Kasper Busk Pedersen

Many important cellular processes happen at interfaces between water and lipids. Kasper’s research contributes to more accurate computer simulations of cellular membranes, the most important interface of cells, and the proteins constituted within, enhancing our understanding of the interplay between proteins and lipids in the cell.

Using the improved computer models of proteins and lipids, Kasper has also conducted research into enzymes called lipases, which catalyze the breakdown of lipids into soluble fatty acids, a process which is found in many industrial applications from washing detergents, to the production of biodiesel fuels.
