Controllable amyloid self-assembly — gaining an understanding of assembly mechanisms down to molecular structures

During his PhD studies, Yin Wang researched the self-assembly behavior of amyloid peptide. The transition
of amyloid states from fibrillation to crystallization is the hierarchical process with the combination of
thermodynamics and kinetics induced by various conditions. Yin Wang studied the hierarchical polymorphism
of amyloid self-assembly controlled by different factors for states transition, reflected by amyloid molecular
structures and the predominant non-covalent interactions.

The new research findings contribute to the understanding of mechanisms of amyloid fibrillation and
crystallization from the perspective of molecular structure to control the state transitions of amyloid selfassembly.'

The PhD study was completed at Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Faculty of Natural Sciences,
Aarhus University.
