Synthetic preparation of anticancer natural products

PhD defence, Tuesday 1 November 2022, Gustav J. Wørmer.

Gustav Julius Wørmer

During his PhD studies, Gustav J. Wørmer has researched in the development of natural products prepared synthetically. Natural products, specifically secondary metabolites, are the result of millions of years evolutionary design which feature unique chemical- and biological properties hereof anticancer properties. Gustav J. Wørmer has designed and developed new chemical syntheses which for the first time has enabled access to a collection of secondary metabolites. The chemical syntheses have contributed to structure elucidation of these secondary metabolites and enabled in-depth biological studies with prospects in drug development.

The PhD study was completed at Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University.
