A tale of tails: exploring novel interactions of the SorCS1-3 C-terminal domains
PhD defence, Wednesday 25th March 2026, Victoria Twiddy
During her PhD studies, Victoria aimed to investigate the C-terminal domains of the memory-related proteins SorCS1-3. These domains, which are intrinsically disordered in nature, have been chronically understudied due to their incompatibility with traditional structural biology techniques. Using a mixture of protein biochemistry, mammalian cell work, and bioimaging, Victoria mapped C-terminal interactomes of all three proteins, ultimately validating and characterising an activity-dependent interaction between SorCS3 and the synaptic scaffolding protein CASK in primary neurons.
The PhD study was completed at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University.
