Applications are invited for a PhD fellowship/scholarship at Graduate School of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University, Denmark, within the Chemistry programme. The position is available from May 2025 or later.
Title:
Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 via Bicarbonate.
Research area and project description:
The successful candidate will actively contribute to cutting-edge research focused on developing dual-atom catalysts and related materials for bicarbonate conversion using advanced electrochemical methods. Emphasis will be placed on designing interfacial organic layers at the electrode surface to enhance the selective reduction of CO2 into value-added products such as syngas, ethanol, or ethylene. This research will involve the assembly of porous polymeric films on top of the catalyst to optimize the reaction environment. Additionally, the candidate will work on scaling up the most promising processes using electrochemical flow cells, aiming to bridge the gap between lab-scale results and practical applications. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with other members of the Daasbjerg research group, ensuring a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment.
